Octisalate

Ethylhexyl Salicylate

Octisalate is an organic ultraviolet (UV) filter used in sunscreens to help protect the skin from UVB rays, which are primarily responsible for sunburn. It is often combined with other UV filters to provide broader sun protection and improve the overall performance and stability of sunscreen formulations. In addition to its UV-filtering properties, it acts as a solvent for certain sunscreen ingredients, helping create lightweight, easy-to-spread formulations. It is commonly found in facial sunscreens, moisturisers with SPF, and cosmetic products containing sun protection.

🛡️
Safety: Generally well tolerated by most skin types. Although irritation is uncommon, some individuals with very sensitive skin may experience mild irritation or allergic reactions. It should be used as part of a broad-spectrum sunscreen formulation rather than as the sole UV filter.
